Release Notes
v1.6.0April 2026
⚔ Choose Your Side
The egg fields are divided. Two factions have risen, and every trainer must decide where they stand. Team Nest guards life before it hatches. Team Hatch demands it emerge. Your choice is permanent. Choose wisely.
Pick a side: PIN'd trainers can pledge to Team Nest or Team Hatch. Once you commit, there's no going back. Your name, your rank, your legacy — all tied to your team.
Team ranks: earn points through steps, hatches, and Team Egg wins to climb your faction's rank ladder. Ten ranks per team, from Wanderer to Sovereign (Nest) or Drifter to Overlord (Hatch).
Team leaderboard: see where you stand among your teammates, who's leading the charge, and how your faction stacks up overall. Tap the team button to open your hub.
Team Eggs: occasionally, a special egg appears that belongs to everyone — but the team that contributes the most steps claims the win. Watch the tug-of-war bar shift in real time as trainers battle for dominance.
Team colors everywhere: your trainer name, recently found entries, and profile all reflect your allegiance. Green for Nest. Red for Hatch.
Team rally: send a battle cry to every trainer currently online directly from the trainer popup.
v1.5.4April 2026
🔥 Ho-Oh Community Alert
Ho-Oh sightings are now announced: when a trainer catches Ho-Oh, everyone online sees a notification with the trainer's name and how many steps were saved
v1.5.3April 2026
🔥 Ho-Oh Rebalance
Ho-Oh can only bless each egg once: clicking Ho-Oh a second time on the same egg now shows a message instead of stacking reductions
The blessing resets with each new egg
v1.5.2April 2026
🛡️ Anti-Cheat Improvements
Server-side step attribution: trainer step counts are now recorded directly on the server, making it impossible to inflate leaderboard stats from the client
Auto-clicker mitigation: further measures put in place to ensure no single player can exceed the step cap regardless of tap speed or tooling
v1.5.1April 2026
⚡ Realtime Tuning
Broadcast rate-limit: step counter sync messages now send at most once every 3 seconds per tapper, down from every 500ms. Reduces realtime message volume by ~6x during active play. Active tappers see no change; spectators see the counter update in small jumps rather than a smooth tick
Step cap enforcement: server now enforces a maximum of 7 steps per flush, capping any single player at 14 steps/second regardless of tap speed
v1.5.0April 2026
⚡ Under the Hood: Performance Update
A major infrastructure overhaul to keep OddEgg fast and sustainable as the community grows.
Realtime optimization: the game previously sent a realtime message on every single tap. It now only fires on meaningful egg events (hatching, claiming, hatched), cutting message volume by over 99%
Step sync via broadcast: spectators see live step updates through a free broadcast channel instead of the metered realtime feed
Narrower database queries: every fetch now requests only the columns it needs, reducing egress significantly
Total steps: now tallied once per hatch rather than on every tap. Your clicks always count and post to the global total when the egg hatches
v1.1.1April 2026
🥚 An EGGciting Mega Update!
Something ancient is stirring in the egg fields… Hatch 10 Mega-capable Pokémon and unlock the Mega Bracelet, a rare charm that opens the door to something much, much bigger.
Mega Eggs: 1-in-50 chance to appear once the bracelet is unlocked. Up to one million steps, 24-hour community countdown, and a menacing heartbeat that speeds up near hatch
Shiny Megas: 1-in-20 odds on Mega Eggs (way better than base shinies)
Dynamic Mega pool: only Mega forms of Pokémon already in your Living Dex are eligible
Mega Dex tab: track all 98 Mega forms; flip between normal and shiny artwork with ‹ › arrows
Mega Bracelet charm: appears in the charm bar with a progress tooltip
v1.0.2April 2025
Ho-Oh Rework
Clicking Ho-Oh as it flies across the screen now reduces the egg's required steps by 10%, making it noticeably easier to hatch without ever triggering it early. The more trainers who catch it, the closer the egg gets!
Ho-Oh now appears on mobile too
Flies by roughly every 20–30 minutes per device
More Emojis
7 emojis now available: Say hi!, Teamwork!, Don't quit!, WOW!, You Legend!, Good One!, and Pain
v1.0.1April 2025
Send Emojis to Other Trainers
You can now send a GIF emoji to any trainer who's currently online! Click the Wi-Fi button in the top bar to see who's around, then tap their name to open the emoji picker. Use the arrows to browse, then hit Send.
Received emojis appear in the bottom-right corner of the egg screen with a Reply button
30-second cooldown between sends
Anonymous Trainers cannot send emojis
Other Fixes
Steps no longer accumulate when your screen is locked or the tab is backgrounded
Autoclicker threshold raised to allow fast-clicking mouse users
v1.0.0April 2025
A note on the Step Leaderboard
Shortly after launch, a bug caused one trainer's broken phone screen to register thousands of phantom taps overnight — resulting in an impossibly large step count on the leaderboard.
We've reset the leaderboard to better reflect real play. Any Pokémon hatched during this time have been kept — consider them a whoopsie gift from us. We've also added protections to prevent this from happening again.
